The New Craze!

So I am loving the new craze....communication notebooks. I have seen so many examples of these nifty notebooks on numerous blogs and teacher sites. Since I am moving on up to the "big leagues" a.k.a. second grade, I am excited about teaching my students one of my favorite things...organization!!!! Sticking with my Rock and Roll theme, I modified some versions of these notebooks to create one that I think will fit perfectly into our classroom. If you have not seen Sarah Cooley's fabulous tutorial on her blog, you can click HERE to check it out! You can also click on the picture above to download the S.T.A.R. cover page and directions. I can't wait to get these fantastic little notebooks up and running into the hands of my second graders!

  1. I have used STAR notebooks in first grade for the past two years, and have heard nothing but positive feedback from parents! This year, I am going to call it a Pirate book to fit my theme, but the basics will stay the same. Thanks for sharing :)

  2. I am in love with this! You have inspired me! Is there anyway you can send this to me to where I can type the kids names in? If not maybe send me a copy that says, Mrs. Ridgley's Class instead of room number.

    Thanks so much!!!

  3. This is awesome! We've been using communication folders at our school for a few years now, but I haven't seen one so detailed... I like it! I noticed that you have the parents send graded work back to you with their initials. What do you do with it when you get it back? I assume you store it, but I was wondering how: binders? file folders?

  4. Random, I know, but I just stumbled upon this post and wanted to share that I use S.T.A.R. Binders too! They are one of my FAVORITE things in the entire world! I love how it keeps everything in ONE convenient place and not all over creation!
