Rockin' Randomness and a Little Thing Called Pinterest

Why is it that every time I walk into my classroom, I get this crazy excited/nervous feeling in my stomach? Then it hits me...the REALIZATION of how much WORK I have to do and yet there is sooo little time! Yikes! However, I am super excited about a new school year and can't wait to hit the ground running (which is why I am already in my classroom...4 weeks early!) If you are feeling the same way, here are a few FREEBIES that may just help you out!  :)

A great way to reach your students even before the year begins is by sending a quick little note letting them know just how excited you are to be their teacher! This year, I am sending a postcard a week before school begins and let me just tell you...It ROCKS! :)  You can click on the picture below to snatch this up! This download is not just for second grade. It will include postcards for grades K-5.

Next up on the list...Magic Snack Mix.

Can I just say...THANK YOU PINTEREST! If you are not a member of pinterest, you have no IDEA what you are missing out on. Please post a comment below and I will be more than happy to send you an invitation. The ideas for classroom, lesson plans, themes, organization...are out of this WORLD! If you are already a Pinteresting Person, you can follow my boards here

As I was browsing the other night, I found the most adorable back to school magic snack mix. Quite possibly one of the sweetest things I have seen. You attach the poem to the snack mix and BAM...you've got an awesome treat to have waiting for your newbies during your back to school night! I wish I could take credit for this creative little poem, but you can hop on over to Amazing Grace to say a big THANK YOU for such a fabulous idea! You can download the poem below. I have two...one if you are rockin' out with a music theme and one general classroom theme. Enjoy!

  1. I'd LOVE to be invited to Pinterest! I teach 2nd grade ~ We start up in 2 weeks and just found out I'm moving out to a "Learning Cottage". So I have my work cut out for me!!! I'm seriously wondering how I'll be "clutterfree" with so little storage in my new smaller classroom. Any ideas?

  2. I am so thankful for a relatively large classroom; however, I do not like to be overwhelmed with so many “things” (even if they are useful). This year, I purchased four rather large Rubbermaid containers and plan to store things in these containers until I need them. I am trying to allow my classroom to grow along with my students. This may be an idea for you. Only have out what you need to have out and then switch it up as you need new materials...etc. This could also be a really fun change for the students! Just an idea! I will keep thinking and let you know if I come up with any other ideas! Also, please email me your email address and I will be more than happy to send you a Pinterest invite! There are such FABULOUS ideas for organization!!!! Good luck to you as you prepare your new space! :)

    Hope

  11. LOVE THE SNACK MIX!!! I have heard a similar poem using Back to school glitter dust. Kids sprinkle the glitter dust under their pillow at night. Bet moms will like the snack mix though....not as messy :) I'm your newest follower. I am having a giveaway this week. I'd love for you to stop by and enter!

  13. I love your rock star theme. Do you know what kind of nameplates you will use on the students' desks?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I must say, nameplates are one thing that I cheat on and do not make myself. I would love to create Rock and Roll themed nameplates but they just never stay on!!! The absolute BEST nameplates are from really good stuff. They stay on the entire year, do not peel and are super, super easy to remove!!! Here is a link just in case you haven't seen them or are interested! They are the best that I have found!
