Well, the news it out! I am moving to third grade with my little loves! For those of you who are new…I have been with my kiddos since first! I am super excited about the move {minus the fact that everything must be NEW…once again!} My wheels are already turning as I prepare for next year! Now, let me make this clear! Usually, I beginning planning mid/end of July! Seriously…I squeeze every moment out of summer! However, this year, my super awesome parent volunteers are coming in next week to help out! Since I do not have anything left our current school year {we only have 2 half days left}, we are on the move for 3rd grade!
Although I am keeping my rockin’ theme, we will begin the year with an Olympic back to school unit! I went to Hobby Lobby today and all of their 4th of July celebration shenanigans are on SALE! Since we will be living the red, white, and blue dream, these decorations will be PERFECT to go all out…Olympic style! {LOVE the Olympics! Anyone up for a trip to London?}
Here is a peek at my new unit which I hope to have up sometime this week just in case you are trying to get a few ducks in a row before you head off into the sunset! ;) Actually, I must have it up if my sweet volunteers will be cutting and prepping!
Here are a few activities that will be the perfect start to our year {even though I won’t have to think about this for another few months! Can I get an amen???}
I think that a glyph will be a great way to get reacquainted while throwing in a little data/graphing practice!
Go for the Gold and Let Your Light Shine Writing Activities
And for a little team building…
I can’t wait to share all of this with you!
AND….
SINCE I AM STARTING OVER….
YET AGAIN…
Here are a few must haves if you will be working with the thirdsters!

ReplyDeleteGinger,
DeleteYou can count on it! We need to meet up sometime this summer so that you can give me all of your secrets!!!!!!
We definitely do! I was so sad I missed the blogger meet up in GA! I would have totally gone if I'd known about it! But we can meet up for coffee or dinner or something soon!
DeleteI am so jealous!!! I rolled with my kiddos this year and would love to go up for one more round!!! I thought that I would hate rolling because my babes would know all of my "tricks," but was I wrong. It's the greatest thing ever . . . you can hit the ground runnin' that very first day with both the kids and the parents. Congrats!

Wow! That is amazing. I have to ask- is the looping common core related? I have heard a rumor that will be a big thing in the years to come (wanting teachers to loop k-5 or at least several years in a row). Do parents have the option to opt out? Will you get any additional kids?

I have to admit that I'm a little bummed you are moving to third but very happy for you! I am a second grade teacher who LOVES your blog. I have done so many of your TPT units! Will your second grade blog still be available for me to access next year? I know I'll be able to adapt a lot of your third grade ideas for second but it would still be nice to review what you did in second. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!

I love the Olympics too! I'm living in London, so let me know if you want anything "Olympic" from here! I would be happy to send you something authentic : )

Is it usual in your area to move with your kids as they move up?? That seems crazy to me, but I can not imagine the bond you have with them by the end of three years! You are very lucky to come in knowing them so well, and they must be so excited to have their wonderful teacher again!
