Long O and U Word Work Centers

Ready…set…GO! Alright Ladies, {and the occasional gentleman} we have a five day week ahead…ready or not! :)

This week, my second graders will be moving on to unit 11 in Second Grade Word Work, which is a two week unit. I have just finished center activities that will have my students practicing all week. I have also jumped ahead and finished centers for unit 12 which is also a two week unit. THAT MEANS…I have centers ready for a month! Yes…an entire month!  And the best part…they are ready for you too. I just posted both sets on TPT. These centers are appropriate for 2nd, 3rd, and maybe some 4th grade level spellers, and you do not have to follow 2nd Grade Word Work for them to fit right into your phonics instruction! All word work center packs include two levels: a regular list and a challenge list. This style of spelling will easily meet the need of any learner in your classroom.

Unit 11 is all about letter combinations {o_e, oe, oa, ough, ow} that make the long /o/ sound.   This pack contains 73 pages of individual, partner, or group activities to help your students master the long /o/ sound. You can pick up this two week center pack at my TPT shop for just $4.00. Here is a little look at the centers included in this pack.

Unit 12 is all about long /u/. This pack contains 100 pages of long /u/ {u_e, ue, oo, ew} practice and also includes a little review of the two sounds of /oo/. One of my favorite activities from this unit is Musical Moon Walk which is gets the students up and moving while learning about letter sounds! Here is a look at Unit 12. This unit is ready for you at my TPT shop and like Unit 11, is also just $4.00.

Here are the three center packs I have completed. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming units! You can click on any of the pictures below to check them out at TPT.

  4. Hope, I love love love your work! Seriously. Anywho, I am VERY new to blogging and just opened a TpT Store. I have a question for you. In the post above, at the bottom you have 3 pictures of the covers of your unit and those pictures link to your TpT Store. I CANNOT get this to happen on my blog. I am very tech-savvy, but something is just not working. Do you upload them as a picture to your blog? When I do that, I can't link to a website. Would you mind sharing your secret?? Thanks a ton!

  7. I purchased your Word Work for 1st Grade and LOVE IT!! Do you plan on making vowel pattern and vowel word work activities for 1st grade? Do they use the same words as the units? Thank you so much for all of your hard work!
